Cheretha Ferguson is not only a seasoned marketing professional and educator but she can make a wicked salad.
Mrs. Ferguson found her calling to improve the lives of others when she decided to attend Florida Memorial University and study Elementary Education. With her unwavering belief that all students deserved a chance to succeed, this New Jersey native choose to only teach at-risk children and the children that other teachers did not desire to teach. Mrs. Ferguson’s above and beyond approach allowed her to incorporate businesses and other resources to help her “dropout prevention” students gain a new perspective on learning. With this, Mrs. Ferguson’s students consistently showed the most school-wide gains during state testing with her “out-of-the-box” methods to teaching. Her hands-on approach led her to receive numerous awards in addition to having the opportunity to present her methods at an education conference in Washington D.C.
At the height of her teaching career, Cheretha decided to leave the teaching profession after losing 50% of her vision. It was then she decided to go back to school to obtain her MBA from Nova Southeastern University. With an eagerness to continue to improve the lives of others, Mrs. Ferguson became the Community Relations Representative for Amerigroup. In this position, Mrs. Ferguson partners with various schools, food pantries, community organizations and churches to help outreach efforts in Miami Gardens, Opa-Locka and Liberty City. She is the former producer of a weekly radio show on WMBM 1490 AM and is back in school obtaining her second graduate degree in Communications from Purdue University.
Mrs. Ferguson is the founding member of the American Marketing Association at Nova Southeastern University and was a judge for the Stevie Awards for Sales & Customer Service. Additionally, she sits on various boards and committees such as the Orange Bowl E-Committee, Broward Health Foundation Marketing Committee, The City of Miami Gardens’ Healthy Community Partnership, Carol City Elementary School EESAC Committee, Global Athletic Development Group and Consortium for A Healthier Miami-Dade County.
