Healthy Community

Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs (ATOD)

The misuse and abuse of Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs (ATOD) affect the health and well-being of millions of Americans and many residents living in Miami Gardens. In addition, to the direct impact on the individual and family, there are many factors related to ATOD that affect the community environment, as well as its norms and values. Live Healthy Miami Gardens addresses ATOD by not only focusing on programming but also the environmental factors through policies, norms, and attitudes that discourage ATOD use. Live Healthy Miami Gardens focus on these policies, norms, and attitudes from an environmental or systems approach. In the environmental approach, ATOD problems are viewed as a community issue, reflecting community norms and practices.
